Physical Literacy

Physical literacy is just as important as the ability to read and write. In fact, science tells us that physical movement is the main reason that our sensory and central nervous systems integrate, grow and learn.

When we have the motivation, confidence, physical ability, knowledge and understanding to establish purposeful & meaningful physical pursuits as regular part of our daily routines, then we are striving towards physical literacy. Everyone's capacity for physical literacy is unique & can be navigated and adapted to be appropriate to the abilities of  the individual.

The most important step toward developing physical literacy is to start small. Mastering fundamental and advanced movement & sensory skills takes time. This is especially true for children with physical and cognitive challenges, who may not have as much opportunity for physical movement, or may not be able to move as much as peers of the same age. With a little bit of preparation & creativity, all movement games, skills and sensory activities can be broken down & adapted to the child's needs and current abilities.

BodyLogique is committed to supporting the physical literacy of children of all ages, including those with special needs. We design adaptive programming for children, professional development for educators, and one-to-one training for parents who want to work with their children at home.
